Indications

Dosage and Administration

One capsule taken daily at breakfast with liquid. Treatment is recommended for a period of 5 months, at which time a treatment free interval of 2-4 weeks will allow evaluation of effect of treatment. To achieve a lasting effect, the course of treatment should be repeated several times. Elderly patients may continue treatment without interruption.

If it should prove difficult to take K.H.3. in capsule form, then the capsule contents may be removed, and the powder taken with any desired liquid.

Contra-indications

Known hypersensitivity or allergy to procaine.

Warnings and Precautions

Interactions with Other Medications

Sulphonamides or Sulphonamide Combinations

One of the metabolites of K.H.3. inhibits the bacteriostatic effect of sulphonamide antibiotics. K.H.3. should not be taken with this class of drug.

Disease States

K.H.3. is not known to exacebate any medical or surgical conditions. It can be safely taken by diabetics.

Pregnancy

K.H.3. should not be taken in pregnancy.

Addictive Potential

K.H.3. is not known to have addictive potential.

Adverse Effects

K.H.3. is very well tolerated. It has no known side effects, however there have been isolated reports of heartburn and/or a mild feeling of discomfort in the epigastric region.
