Classification of Medicines
Current Amendment to the Classification Schedule

An update to The First Schedule to the Medicines Regulations 1984 came into effect on 1 August 2011. This amendment, Medicines Amendment Regulations 2011, will replace Medicines Amendment Regulations 2009.
Medicines Amendment Regulations 2011 is a consolidation of new classifications and classification changes which have already come into effect by means of Gazette notices.
The current classification of a medicine may also be found in the ‘Schedule of Classifications’ on this website.
Note that Gazette notices published after 1 August 2011 will override classifications in Medicines Amendment Regulations 2011. Changes notified in the Gazette will be reflected in the ‘Schedule of Classifications’.
