Classification of Medicines
Current Amendment to the Classification Schedule
Updated: 25 July 2006
An update to The First Schedule to the Medicines Regulations 1984 came into effect on 24 July 2006. This amendment, Medicines Amendment 2006, will replace Medicines Amendment Regulations 2002.
Medicines Amendment 2006 is a consolidation of new classifications and classification changes which have already come into effect by means of Gazette notices. It does not contain any new changes.
The current classification of a medicine may also be found in the ‘Schedule of Classifications’ on this website.
Note that Gazette notices published after 24 July 2006 will override classifications in Medicines Amendment Regulations 2006. Changes notified in the Gazette will be reflected in the ‘Schedule of Classifications’.
