Reporting Defective Medicines
If you find that a medicine is defective in any way, this should be reported.
While many problems will be isolated, some may be more widespread, perhaps affecting an entire batch, and requiring a product recall.
It is therefore important to report the defect so that the problem can be investigated and further action taken if appropriate.
Reporting of defects should be carried out as follows:
- Contact the manufacturer whose name should be on the container. Telephone numbers of most distributors can be found in the back of New Ethicals; and
- Contact a Medicine Control advisor at your local the Compliance Team at Medsafe. They will conduct any necessary investigation and ensure the correct follow up action is taken.
